Freelance Writing

7 posts in this topic

One of the best ways I've found to make money, especially for making money online, is freelance writing. It's not easy, and most people seem to be looking for easy. Finding good sites and good writing gigs is almost as much work as the actual writing is, but freelancing is worth it if you have the time to devote to it. It tends to pay much better than your typical online earning sites do. I used to make really good money doing it, and hope to devote more of my time to finding steady writing work.

Do you get paid to write?

Freelance writing is a good way to make money. You can write for writing sites, social blogging sites or for the clients that you find on freelancer sites. You can also start your own blog, publish on your blogs and monetize your blog. sadly, I have not earned much from freelance writing. I am on couple of writing sites and I am yet to reach payout on most of these sites. I have of course received money from writing site.

I've always wanted to start my own blog, but I'm not sure who'd want to actually read it!

I would like to keep it like a diary, but now I am so old and boring, who would care?

I have not earned much from independent composition.

I've for the longest time been itching to begin my own particular web journal, but I don't have enough time to dedicate it :(

I was lucky enough to find a writing site in my country that only accepts local writers. I was promoted after a couple of months to prime writer status which allowed me to access some higher paying jobs. I'm not a great writer, but I am definitely big on content and I always go the extra mile when researching. I can say that the writing job allowed me to earn a little more than the minimum wage. The site, however, imposes very strict deadlines on writing projects which is a hassle when I have to do some errands. Working online has opened a lot of opportunities for me in terms of my writing career. I have augmented my income by writing for sites that allow me to work during my spare time. The internet is truly a game changer.

I have considered freelance writing but the site I went to requires submissions of articles which are subject to approval. It is like writing for a publication. I used to send articles to a pet magazine and they pay me $20 for articles with photos and a length of 800 words at least. I have never experienced any rejection. In one website for local entertainment, I also send articles with a shorter length of 500 words and they pay me $10 for the effort. And like in the magazine, it is zero rejection. Now with freelance writing in sites, it would be demeaning for me to send articles and be rejected.

I have a master's degree in language and peadogogy, and I teach in community colleges. As a student of language and padogogy and teachet of language and peadogogy, I have written a large volume of esays and articles, however, I have not done freelance writing. Since I know how to write, one days I would like to do freelance writing.

    • Hi, Maybe this isn't the right forum for it, but I thought we'd quickly see this discussion degenerate like the housing thread did... so Bickering Room it is (unless a mod deems it worthy of another spot). There's just a couple of weeks left to buy RRSP's for the 2016 tax year. I've been doing a bit of research and am deciding between TD eSeries funds (not exactly sure which ones yet) and Tangerine's funds (Balanced Portfolio for RRSP and Equity Growth for TFSA contribution). Anyone with experience with either? Or another recommendation?
Thanks I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
