What can you buy with $5 in your country?

25 posts in this topic

Making the necessary conversion (if isn't originally dollar xD) to the currency of your country, what can you buy with that amount?

Here in my country I can buy a simple shirt or have a moderate (but good) full lunch for example. :1300_clap_tone1:

I can buy dinner for two, my husband and I, in a good restaurant in my home country. I can also buy a tie or leather belt for $5. AS for me I can buy inner wear for myself with $5.

I can also buy a shirt for myself or two shirts for my daughter. I can also by lunch and dinner for one with that if I make good calculations. It will even be enough to buy my daughter a pair of simple shoes.

If 5 dollars will be converted in our currency, I can buy a full meal in McDonald's. Probably 1 quarter pounder with 1 large fries and 1 large coke, or 2 blouses in a bazaar, or 1 sandals, or a meal for the entire day good for 1 to 2 persons (if on a tight budget). There are totally plenty of things that you can buy with that amount in our country, but not a lot though :)

I'm kind of a bit jealous reading some of these replies! Here in the UK, $5 doesn't go very far. $5 works out at about £3,90 so it won't even get me a McDonald's Big mac Meal to be honest. I remember not too long ago when the exchange rate was a lot better than it is now, and while the brexit decision hasn't helped, I do think that in the future the rate will start to rise again and the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned!

I can buy a pack of smokes. 3 sachets of instant coffee that will last a day for me. A liter of cola and half of a whole chicken. I still have a dollar and 42 cents after buying all of that. I can still buy myself a kilo of rice for a dollar which leaves me with 42 cents.

Five dollars would buy me a sandwich, a bag of crisps and a bottle of fizzy drink for my lunch.

I just have to choose what flavour of crisps to have!

Well $5.00 in Canada doesn't go very far, at least not in my province. I don't think $5 even covers milk and bread, it might if I bought 1 load and 1, 1 liter of milk instead of 2 liters. It is sad really I remember being a kid and $5 was enough to rent a movie from the corner store and get a treat, not so much now though.

Here too I can buy one simple t-shirt for me with this amount. And yes I can have good launch and dinner with this amount. In fact sometime I guess two people can have good launch or dinner with this amount. But yes it is also depends on places here. There are lots of things available here which can be purchased with this amount.

I can buy a pizza, a cheap piece of clothes, a nice full dinner for 2 or actually be able to pay for a buffet with water. Many fast food combos cost less than 5 dollars.

With 5 dollars in Romania I can buy 5 MCD menus, get a decent steak meal or even get enough food to eat for 2-3 weeks if I plan it right. I could also buy a decent t-shirt.

I think I can even pay my landline phone with 5$.

I am in Portugal, and $5 is precisely the money I spend to have lunch in my works cafeteria. It's a decent price, not too cheap, not too expensive, to have a good meal. With $5 I can also have a breakfast for two people or go to the movies, so that's price of things here where I live.

Good topic idea! ;)

That's amazing wish I could pay my phone bill with 5 dollar. Mine would cost 44 dollars, converted from £36 in the UK.

I can buy a lot with $5 because of the currency conversion benefits. $5 would be equal to around 500 Rupees in my country. I can buy a lot of stuff with this amount :)
