Do you talk to yourself?

15 posts in this topic

I'm not crazy (just to make it clear, right?), but I speak (and I speak every day). The main reason is that I use the technique of talking to myself to improve my diction (and my general learning) in English.

It's an extremely effective method! B|

This is referred to as soliloquizing. I think most people do this just that some do it more frequent than others. It's not that the person is crazy or something I'd  say it's a way to ease off at times. I do talk to myself few times and this can be likened to reasoning loud.

Yeah I'm afraid I do sometimes, mostly when I'm busy doing something. Lucky people don't hear me or I would be seen as mad haha.

Haha... At first I also thought people thought I was crazy for talking to myself (in English), but long ago I don't care anymore what people think when they see me talking to myself (and to be honest, today I can only laugh at these people xD).

I talk to myself, and I am not crazy. I talk...

When I want to make something clear to myself.

When I want to express pleasure or anger

When I want to develop my public speaking

I talk to myself all the time when I'm alone. I find it helps me to concentrate on the task in hand and it makes me remember what I'm meant to be doing.

I think if one talks to himself all the time should call for a little worry. It's okay to talk to oneself but I do not think it's fine to be in the habit of always doing this.

Yes I often do. Of course it is not like being crazy. It is fine. In fact I have seen many doing the same. I do it whenever I get frustrated about something. I also do when I am very glad or very angry for something. So I guess it is fine.

It IS fine. If it helps to organise and structure you, and so long as you dont end up shouting, it's all good I reckon.

That said though, it can sometimes be a little embarrassing when someone catches you.

I do especially when I am trying to solve a problem. When I have an argument with someone I usually try to solve things myself. When I am angry I like to destress myself my talking it out myself. Also when trying to memorize something.

Yes I have talked to myself out loud and in my head as well like another person is there. The times I have done this though was to decide how to talk about something important with someone or if I had big news to share. I also find it is a good method if I am trying to get a job and need to practice what I will say at an interview. Times when I am sad I have done it too.

Yes I certainly talk to myself, most of the time to be honest. I ask random questions to myself particularly when I'm confused with some stuffs or when I'm looking for something, or calming myself and making decisions. I also sometimes laugh by myself which I think is just normal. I guess most people do that as well right?

It's pretty fun to talk to yourself, I do it unintentionally like I'm talking to another person, and I think there's nothing wrong with that :)

I use English as a second language. When I was learning English, I used to read aloud and always talk to the mirror. I also recorded my voice as I read aloud or talked to myself.later I used to listen my voice and find what's wrong.

I still talk to myself, but I don't talk to myself to learn language but express emotions.

I think it's okay if we seldomly talk to ourselves especially if there is an intense worry or difficulty we struggling to overcome. Again, if I get a surprised breakthrough or a very good report I may exclaim in excitement even if I am alone. This becomes a problem if it's too often.
